This new concept of boutique hotels with luxury amenities at low price is a good way to target customers who don't have a high budget for holidays because of the economic crisis. Now, guests are looking for cheaper hotels and the online retailers, such as expedia, favor this new trend. That is why it allows boutique hotel to differentiate itself from competitors. Moreover, clients can take advantage of this concept since they still stay in luxury hotels yet they do not have to spend a lot of money. So boutique hotel may attract either people who have lost their savings and was used to travel or people who wish to enjoy an experience in luxury hotel.

  1. This an interesting concept. I think that luxury hotels should react quickly to this new trend so that their image does not suffer. Many of their customers like to be an elite, not affordable luxury consumers.

  2. I agree with Gabrielle. If there is no difference between an hotel where your room is at 80e au night and another at 800e a night, who will go on the second one? The Luxurious hotels have to react quicklie if they don't want to loose an important part of their market. The only solution is to create new needs, to propose new concept. Offering an unique and personnalized experience will be the future of the luxurious hotels.

  3. As the previous comments, I think that their strategy might be dangerous for their own brand image. Instead of offering promotional rates, luxurious hotels should find other way to keep their customers. For example, they can create a new atmosphere or experience. If they keep their actual strategy, it will only attract a lower-class category customers.
